WeEnvision EPIC (Empower, Play, Inspire, Cultivate) is an innovative initiative launched in 2023 by The Alia Foundation. Our mission is to nurture children’s growth by strengthening the essential connections between families, educators, and communities. Inspired by the Emilia Riggio educational philosophy, parent and teacher workshops emphasize the importance of play, collaboration, and development in early childhood. EPIC has become a community-driven initiative designed to elevate the role of families, empower caregivers, and grow networks of continuous professional advancement throughout the PK-20 continuum.
EPIC series of workshops and annual retreats are designed to:
Empower parents with activities, strategies, and resources that foster learning through age relevant play.
Elevate educator professional expertise by creating spaces for collaboration, continuous growth, and inspiration.
Engage the community to contribute in cultivating cultural and linguistic talents with development of learners' essential skills.
Support for Families & Caregivers: Resources tailored to help caregivers create enriching home environments. Parenting workshops focusing on child development milestones. Access to local support networks and peer communities.
Linguistically Relevant Resources for Educators: A professional hub for sharing best practices and strategies for developing the assets of multilingual learners. Networking opportunities for educators to grow and collaborate. Access to the latest research and tools for advancing literacy development and promoting family involvement in education.
Family-Centered Programming: Events and workshops designed to strengthen the family bond. Practical guides to integrate learning into everyday family life. Culturally responsive programming serves all communities of learners.
Holistic approach: We coach teachers to address children’s development across multiple domains: physical, social, emotional, linguistic, and cognitive. We recognize students and teachers lived experiences, and in telling our stories, we all continue to learn and grow.
Empowering families and teachers: Our youth's families are at the center of everything we do; we recognize parents, grandparents, and caregivers as co-educators and valuable partners in our mission of advocating for every learner's success.
Collaboration for growth: Our program connects families, caregivers, subject matter experts, and educators to foster learning at home, within the classroom, and across communities.
"We believe that family engagement is key to children’s success. Through WeEnvision initiatives, we aim to elevate the role of families as lifelong advocates working together with educators, from early childhood to the transformative middle years, and ultimately through the college and career stages for social and economic mobility."
